Mirabelli v. Bonta
U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit
FiledThe Child & Parental Rights Campaign, together with Our Duty–USA, filed an amicus brief in the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in Mirabelli v. Bonta. The brief asks the court to affirm the district court injunction and keep California’s Parental Secrecy Policy blocked. That policy tells schools not to inform parents when a child asserts a discordant gender identity at school unless the child consents, and allows schools to use opposite-sex names and pronouns during the school day without the parents’ knowledge. The Supreme Court has already said the policy likely violates parents’ fundamental rights and “cut[s] out the primary protectors of children’s best interests: their parents.” Prepared by Mary E. McAlister (Counsel of Record) of CPRC, with Erin Friday of Our Duty–USA.
